| Newsfront (1978) | Wendy Hughes (holder) "A smoking gem from Australia that was unknown to me until it popped up on IFC last night. The lovely Hughes smokes with fine style in several scenes throughout. Points added for the late 40s/early 50s setting (dark lipstick, non-filters, plus I just like women's hair and clothing styles from that era), and for a terrific holder scene in a nightclub near the end. Points subtracted for several frustrating unseen exhales, either through director cutaways or poor lighting. I missed the first half hour, it may be even better than I saw, but what I did see makes it worth seeking out."
