"Maggie herself has 3 very decent smoking scenes in the first half of the movie. Nathalie Richard plays a costume designer who smokes a lot in the movie, often with the cigarette dangling out of her mouth (there's also a funny scene where she inhales, puts on a latex zippered mask, exhales, and we see the smoke pour out of the eye and mouth zippers). Of worthy mention also is Nathalie Boutefeu, who smokes several times throughout the movie and has a long scene near the end in a restaurant holding a brown cigarette"

"A couple of interesting things in the Extras on the Special Edition DVD. One is a short, about 5 minutes, featuring nothing but Cheung in close-up doing things like cleansing her face. There's one drag and visible exhale, although the director went for arty visual effect and so it's kind of grainy and badly lit. The second is a 'making of' documentary video that includes the cast and crew rehearsing some of the scenes from the film, and you can see Cheung and several other women (but not Richard) smoking in the dinner party scene while the director works out camera moves."
