Innere Sicherheit, Die (2000) | Julia Hummer, Barbara Auer, Katharina Schüttler, Inka Löwendorf
"this is a European film, so cork filter kings througout" [0:01] beautiful close-up of Hummer lighting up and smoking at a seaside cafe; this alone is worth the price of admission [0:21] tail end of Auer smoking a cigarette w/ Hummer by her side (but not smoking) [0:25] tail end of Hummer sneaking a smoke in the toilet [0:29] Schüttler is smoking in her bedroom; Hummer comes in and accepts a cigarette and a light in a shot that is intentionally artsy and out-of-focus; Auer walks in and presumably sees her daughter holding, but gives no obvious response [0:33] brief scene with Auer [0:50] Hummer is smoking on a bridge; Löwendorf, playing an older schoolgirl of some kind, comes up and bums a cigarette and a light [0:56] excellent scene; in a darkened kitchen, Hummer lights up a cigarette and does a no-hands exhale; very good profile view close-up inhale a few seconds later; this and the very first scene together make this movie a classic! [1:09] Auer wants a cigarette but her pack is empty; Hummer takes a pack out of her pocket, gives mom a cigarette, then gives mom a light; Auer smokes alone for the rest of the scene, completely ignoring proper mother/daughter movie smoking etiquette (when daughter reveals to mom she smokes, gives mom a cigarette, and mom accepts it and lights up, mom is supposed to insist that daughter has one with her -- this is the Bonding Moment) [1:30] Auer smokes in a tense situation; Hummer is there, but again doesn't smoke"
