Frequently using a holder, she executes thick, milky snaps; long, streamy, lip-pursing exhalations; and one scene in which she exhales her smoke in a gentle, staccato manner when flirting. Her performance is all the more impressive when one realizes that the film was made back when it was almost unheard of to see a South Asian actress smoke on-screen"
