The entire backdrop to many of the scenes consists of pretty young ladies always holding both a drink and a cigarette... Unlike all the other [women], she smokes her cigarettes without a holder. ...It's the first time I've ever seen Susannah Harker smoking, and she looks decidedly uncomfortable with it, as though she had never smoked before. So far, she's only been seen puffing on her cigarette from a distance; in the close-up shots, every time she raises her cigarette to her mouth, the camera cuts"
