The major exceptions are the opening and closing banquet hall scenes where in several frames you can see as many as three women smoking at their tables, and the (real, intercut) Congressional hearing footage where IRL female smoking can be seen in the background. For all the negatives about the McCarthy era, it certainly was a good period for unrestricted smoking!"
