| Girl, The (2000) | Agathe De La Boulaye, Claire Keim "This film noir, moody (to say the least) tragedy's opening credits shows rising cigarette smoke. Though both women are attractive, sadly for smoking fans none of the lighting/photography is done with us in mind. Boulaye, the butch lesbian, either dressed in same style man's clothing or not at all, is shown dragging on a cigarette in several scenes. A few puffs are seen but even in the closeup you have to look close to see the quick nose jets and wisps of smoke from her mouth. My guess is she's not a smoker. Her lover, the nightclub singer Keim has two scenes. In the first she has a couple of drags with exhales too faint. In the second a lightup, two exhales are barely seen soley due to the white curtained background but her third exhale while she is facing the mirror is plainly visible. There are a few women in the club background seen smoking, too bad that's not where our leads smoked."
